Southeastern Türkiye Tour Departing from Izmir

1. Days: Şanlıurfa

We depart from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Şanlıurfa GAP Airport with a SunExpress flight at 05:50. After our arrival at 07:40, we have a pleasant breakfast break. Afterwards, we visit Göbeklitepe, which sheds light on human history and is known as the “zero point of history”.

Göbeklitepe is the oldest temple complex known with a history of 12 thousand years and has created a great revolution in the world of archaeology. This unique area, which proves that hunter-gatherer societies can build monumental structures contrary to popular belief, offers a fascinating atmosphere with its huge T-shaped obelisks and symbolic reliefs. Here, we will receive a detailed introduction and information accompanied by an expert guide.

After the Göbeklitepe tour, we go to the center of Şanlıurfa and settle in our 200-year-old historical mansion reflecting the local culture. After resting, we set out to explore the region on foot. We take a pleasant stroll among historical inns, bazaars, Balıklıgöl, Urfa Museum and the city's iconic structures, and experience the unique tastes of Şanlıurfa with street delicacies.

2. Days: Mardin

After breakfast at the hotel, we set off for Harran. This ancient city, famous for its distinctive conical domed houses, is one of the oldest settlements in Mesopotamia and has been a center of science and astronomy throughout history. Then, we stop by the Bazda Caves, which attract attention with their huge quarries.

Our next stop is Karahantepe. Similar to Göbeklitepe, this archaeological site, dating back to the Neolithic period, is one of the most important excavation sites in the region. The discoveries here offer new clues that further deepen the mystery of Göbeklitepe. Then, we set off for Mardin and settle into our hotel for accommodation.

3. Days: Diyarbakır

We have our breakfast with the endless view of the Mesopotamian Plain and embark on a pleasant journey through the narrow streets, stone mansions and historical bazaars of Old Mardin. Our visiting points include the Ulu Mosque, Kırklar Church and Deyrulzafaran Monastery.

We wander through local markets to feel the mystical texture of Mardin, mingle with the locals and discover the unique flavors of the region. We go to Diyarbakır in the evening and settle into our hotel for accommodation.

4. Days: Adıyaman

We start our exploration of Diyarbakır with the Ten-Eyed Bridge. This historic bridge over the Tigris River is one of the most important symbols of the region. Then, we visit the Diyarbakır Walls, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We take a journey into the city's past by visiting the Inner Castle, the Four-Legged Minaret, the Grand Mosque and historical inns.

We witness the daily life of the local people in the lively bazaars of Diyarbakır and feel the cultural texture here more closely. In the afternoon, we set off for Mount Nemrut and stay in the Nemrut region.

5. Days: Nemrut

Early in the morning, we set off towards Mount Nemrut, which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We have an unforgettable experience on the east and west terraces, where the giant statues are a legacy of the Kingdom of Commagene.

While walking among the monumental statues built by King Antiochus, we discover the history and importance of this unique structure. Then we visit the Arsemia Ancient City, Cendere Bridge and Karakuş Tumulus.

At the end of our tour, we go to Şanlıurfa GAP Airport and return to İzmir by 23:20 SunExpress flight.
